Motorcycle Tour A - Croatia
2 Weeks - 9th May - 24th May- 2700
Miles
(11 nights b&b, 5 nights half board)
For two or three years now many of our regulars have been asking if we could go back to Croatia yet. In '03 and '04 we DID "dip our toes in the water" although only for about 60/70 miles south of the border. So in '07 we did a couple of serious recce's all the way down the coast, past Dubrovnic and as far as the Montenegran border.
We looked at the many recent developments there and found, as we had heard, that roads and accomodation standards have been dramatically improved. We noted though that they hadn't improved the scenery - that would have been a bit of a tall order! But they have improved access to it here and there.
The tour is one of our longer ones, taking us almost as far south as Greece, all by road. So the weather ought to be pretty good. And it's also a pretty easy trip, by our standards.
We have a short break in Slovenia on the way down and then take in three of the Croatian National Parks and a fair bit of the unspoilt coastline, including Dubrovnic of course, where we have another of our 5 star hotels. And on the return route you could have a short foray inland to see, for example, the famous (now rebuilt) bridge at Mostar (and the boys still jumping off it).
Try this trip before the campervans start flooding in, and savour the traffic-free roads.
