Motorcycle Tour A - Croatia - the route

Croatia - Motorcycle Tours - Bike and Sun Tours 2008 We make our way first of all to Slovenia by our regular route via Saarbrucken and Munich and then through some of the lesser known parts of Austria into the beginnings of the Triglav National Park and the Julian Alps. And now the traffic becomes a lot more sparse.

We have our first pause in the mountainous region where you will be able to visit the magical Lake Bohinj or the delicious Vrsic Pass.

From here we head for the famous Plitvice Lakes (14 of them running from one into the other). At this time of year the waterfalls should be in full spate after the winter snow.

Next we pass through some really wild stuff on our way to the beautiful Adriatic Coast - the well named Thousand Island Coast. Here our almost new hotel is virtually on the beach. At this stop we recommend that you visit the Krka Gorge, with yet more splendid 'water works'.

At both these watery stops a lot of the leg-work is saved by using the bus / train & / or the electric boat - all included in the entrance price.

Our last leg south gets us almost to the Macedonian border and our 5 star joint with all the trimmings you would expect - indoor & outdoor pools, sea swimming amongst the fish and much more.

What we recommend here is the local bus to Dubrovnic. This beautiful walled town was well hammered by the Serbian artillery a few years ago, but its restoration is almost complete, and so good as to be almost undetectable. They have been able to use most of the old stone. The old town and the city walls, that you can walk along, are really evocative and well worth a day exploring and snappo'ing.

From here we make our way back by a diferent wild route to Plitvice and then rewind our southward journey to Calais.
